Bill,
You're the high bidder on the MII on ebay ("reserve not met"), right? At this
price, I'd take a pass, or at least make sure to get the instrument on approval,
seeing as how the owner didn't even provide pictures.. You can get a lot of
information over Jim Donaldson's website:
http://www.dallasmusic.org/schilke/Miscellaneous.html#M Series
No friend of the M series he. I bought a somewhat beat-up MII a couple years ago
and like it, but it seems to be pretty much a matter of luck, since they're not
built as carefully as the grown-up Schilkes. Mine has the Yamalloy valve problem
and I got it solved in the prescribed manner, but why deal with it if you don't
have to? BTW, Jim says that the MII has a Schilke leadpipe and a Yamaha bell,
except fot the earliest ones. When I called Schilke after buying mine to ask what
the heck an "M" was, they told me that MIIs had Schilke leadpipes and bells and
didn't say anything about Yamaha bells. I'd like that to be true, but suspect that
Jim's information is more accurate.
These things have been going for a lot of money on ebay... maybe I should sell
mine... but I believe a lot of people think they're up there with the B/X/S series
and they're really not..
Moi, I want an S32... hmmmm... Schilke...

Good luck

Mathias,
as a tangent to this thread...
I have a Schilke S32 that I got when the S series 1st. came out in '85.
I have always liked the horn better than the B/X series for what I
play. I just sent the horn to Ron Pinc for conversion to a tuning bell,
and added a round tuning slide (and some other minor modifications).
The net is that I feel I sent one horn to Ron, and got two back! Using
the tuning bell yields the same 'S' sound that I like, full with a solid
core, just slightly more free due to the tuning bell. But...when I
leave the bell full in, and tune with the slide, the horn is much more
brilliant with lots of edge, comes in very handy for big band gigs.
Combinations of bell and slide tuning let me adjust the sound about any
way I need. So, FWIW, if you have the cash, and the time, wait for the
combination that works best for YOU, rather than jumping on a horn that
you might soon be trying to unload.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

I really appreciate the feedback. I was the high bidder on this on E-Bay, but
below the reserve. The seller is considering letting me have it for my bid,
but no obligation exists for either of us. So I'm going to "pass" if he does
over to accept my bid!

Thanks for the advise
