Couturier Trumpet , a review by mikey

Today was the first day that I was able to play our Couturier Bb/A
trumpet in public.
(Ours is a silver one just llke the one in the link above with the Bb/
A rotor)
All I can say is WOW! What an awesome trumpet(If you can resist
calling it a cornet as it requires a cornet mouthpiece, but what would
you expect from a horn built by Ernst).
The Couturier trumpet is perhaps the most beautiful sounding trumpet
that I have ever played/heard. Its intonation is flawless. I had
better not hear any more bitchin about my trumpet intonation, because
there is just no other trumpet around that plays in tune like a
Couturier, period. This trumpet has such a rich, fat, sweet sound. Its
blow is the most comfortable blow that I have ever experienced, the
pure conical bore will have you instantly addicted to this trumpet the
first time that you try one. Before I played this horn I was concerned
about two things, spit in the horn and intonation issues with the
valve slides. No need to worry, Ernst knew what he was doing, spit in
the horn was not a problem, and this horn plays fantasticly in tune.
I love this trumpet, I am using a Callet Buddy Childers long cornet 10
mouthpiece, a little shallow, but for me it matches up with this
trumpet extremely well, high notes on the Courturier with the Callet
childer 10 are a breeze, and the sound is so unique, so super
fantastic I am convinced that with the Couturier trumpet I have an
advantage because this horn has the sweetest most comfortable blow ,
it blows better than any G bugle or any other horn that i have ever
played.

No matter what horn you play, spittle will always be an issue. It's
all about condensation and how you get rid of it without introducing
as much into the horn as you get rid of thru the spit valve. Don't
over blow and your spittle problems will for the most part go away.

This is the type of horn that we have. Yesturday I was emptying out a
good amount of spit and I was concerned that spit would be stuck in
the first valve slide of the Couturier trumpet. This was not a problem
for me at all.
The intonation on the Couturier trumpet is simply completely flawless
in every register, I had heard from others that this was the case, and
after playing the Couturier I can tell you that it plays in tune
better than any other horn that I have ever played. No other trumpet
that i have ever played is even close. With better design and
craftsmanship, this horn , built with love and passion for the horns
sound, and built to please the trumpet player, the Couturier trumpet
will not leave you dissapointed.
Of all the horns that I have ever played , the blow on the Couturier
trumpet is superior, it is so cozy and snug, its cushion on the blow
is so comfortable you just won't believe it, and its tone is so
gorgeous, so sweet, so beautiful that if you are a seasoned hornplayer
it will take your breath away. With smoother tubing transitions than
any other trumpet ever built, the Coututier offers a smooth consistant
conical bore with superior trumpet design that was hand built by one
of the greatest sounding cornet/trumpet players of all times. Its rich
tone and ease of play are the result of a horn built by a horn player
and legendary horn craftsman who built this horn with a better blow
and superior intonation in mind. Mission accomplished.

Take a look at what "Old Lou" from grand Rapids Michigan said about
Couturier trumpets on the Trumpet Herald:
"Because of the totally conical bore with no valve tuning slides with
sharply radiused curves. The tuning loops are made with a much more
widely radiused curve, the horn has a much easier, freer blow, and a
fantastic projection with the sweetness and darkness of tone of a fine
cornet. This on a trumpet. The valves are quite large in diameter with
full diameter porting. The rotary valve quick change to A is no longer
a usable item, as, I haven't seen a score written in A since I was a
youngster,( many years ago). The build quality is as good as any I
have ever seen. The principal trumpeter of the Grand Rapids,
Mi.symphony was here last week, playing most of my horns and after
playing both of my Couturiers he stated that he wished his Strads were
as good and that he is going to keep his eyes open for one to buy and
use in the orchestra.
Take my word, they are a fine horn, if in good condition.

Mi Symphony wishes that his Bach Strads were as good as a Couturier
trumpet. The truth is that a Bach strad is not even close to being as
good as a Couturier trumpet.

seem to be a "doctor" of anything - based on your writing skills, your weak
logical reasoning, and the inability for your dissertations to be found
anywhere through the normal channels (as discovered by an actual researcher
who posted such).

Mikey hates US military veterans, amongst the many

As far as I know, we've never met. He also thinks that "no,"
who cracked a joke about Welk is in with us, althoug I
have no idea who he is. When I say "joke" I guess that's
what Mikey calls a "bit."
He seems to have done some netkkkop detekkktive work (more
like defekkktive), and he's decided that I'm from Boston,
a Catholic, an African American, an abortionist, and a fan
of the Yankees and the Red Sox. All things that he hates,
of course. He also seems to have hallucinated that all my
friends and family have abandoned me. I have no idea how
he came to some of those conclusions, I suspect I know
