What do you guys think of Laskey's mouthpieces ? Anyone in this group uses
his stuff? Just like to get reviews on them, i may be getting one for myself
soon.
The last time i tried, i thought it sounded great.

The Laskey mouthpieces are great.
I play the 80MD with a 24 throat.
I had played Bach mouthpieces for almost 40 yrs.
The Laskeys are everything I was looking for in a mouthpiece.
Scott is a great guy too.

I have dealt with Scott over the net and have gotten several mp's from
him. His advice was excellent and I have been very happy with the mp's. i
too played Bach for many years and have been very impressed with the
tone and pitch control of the Laskey's. I use an 80 rim size with different
cup depths for different horns. I have had good success with the #22
throat and a #24 backbore. Definitely give them a try.

I can echo Wilmer's sentiments exactly, though I am not as strong a
player as he. I have had the pleasure of playing several Laskey
mouthpieces, before settling on a 68MD with 24 throat.

How tough is it to get Laskey mouthpieces in Singapore?

Heya,

I switched from a Bach 3C to a Laskey 65MC a couple of months ago. My
sound got better, my attacks got cleaner (much cleaner). I had played
the Bach for over 15 years.

Has anyone any experience with the * mouthpieces he makes? Sometimes I
find that doing a 3 hour gig (Brass quintet or big band) is a little
taxing on someone who gets to practice an hour a day (on good days).

Thanks,

Matt

I recently switched from a Schilke 13a4a to the Laskey 65S* for big band. I
get a much fuller sound when playing lead and it's much easier to play 4th
parts with better sound, too. But, ask again in two
ths! -----------------------------------------------------

Love them! I tried a Laskey 68MD, and a 65MC. Bought the 65MC and
love it. Am bidding right now on a larger 75MC. Also have and
sometimes use a bored out 75MD I got from Stanton, and a Laskey 68F
flugelhorn mp. All his stuff is of the highest quality. The sound I
get from the 65MC is fantastic! I think that's the one Doc bought
three of during a recent visit to Scott's shop....

I play both a 68C and a 68*. Both are great mouthpieces. I prefer the *
for times when I want more of a "commercial" sound. However, it does not
get a shrill sound like the _A4a Schilkes can. It is a nice brilliant
sound. The C mellows the tone out a touch but still has "life" to it.

I met Scott at the ITG conference last month. He introduced me to his
mouthpieces and I bought one (80MD, 24 throat) and love it. Plus, he also
told me some great George Vosburgh (my teacher) stories!

I highly recommend his mouthpieces, and if you've got the dough, have him
redo your horn too. Apparently, George asked him to make him a horn like
the old Mt. Vernon Bach's when George left the CSO for Pittsburgh. I played
one of the horns that he's redone while I was at the ITG conference and it's
incredible. I think the cost is around $1400 or so...

Take care,
