This is a serious question :

Has anyone heard of someone developing Hemorroids from playing the
trumpet ?

Could the pressure from high note playing cause problems of this nature ?
I know we're not doctors here(at least , not I ..) but is this a possibility
from
anyone's experience ?

I had a doctor--who was also a trumpet player--tell me several years ago
that this was not only a possibility but a high probability. His final
comment was something like, "just deal with it."

One of my former trumpet teachers had surgery for hemorroids. During our first
lesson after the operation he said to me: "You know, I never realized to what
extent my ass was a factor in trumpet playing until I started having this
problem".
Although this story doesn't address whether trumpet playing could be traced to
causing hemorriods, it does confirm the old statement that trumpet playing uses
EVERY muscle in the body. Remember Dizzy Gillespie's story about this?

After this weekend, I was starting to feel like playing the trumpet was
getting to be a pain in the ass, but I don't think this is what you're
talking about...

Yeah....Straining to do anything is rough if you've got a
tendency to have hemorrhoids....I can't see why trumpet
playing would be any exception. One way to help the problem
is to sit on something relatively small, that "pushes" up
against your rear end and tends to push the hemorrhoids back
into place. Riding a bicycle with one of those small "racing
type" seats is good for them. You might figure out some kind
of a similar seat to sit on while you're practicing.

Yes have heard of this happening ... there could be a connection between
high / loud playing & a case of 'rroids ... but ... all things being
equal ... if you are breathing, & supporting your air stream correctly,
then there "should" be no physical problems.

(Gastrointestinal) problems can arise.

Uh... maybe you should ask the tuba players. LOL!

There shouldn't be a problem unless you already do have piles or
hemorrhoids. That would cause major problems when doing anything from
bending to playing the trumpet. Otherwise, stop thinking about that
possibility or it might just happen. Maybe you should keep your mind off
getting swollen veins in your ehem... and focus your mind on having a good
tone. :-)

I'd like to add to what I said earlier.

One tip - don't over exert yourself. Relax at all times. Being relaxed can
do a lot to the prevention of hemorrhoids.
