I recently bought a 1960s era album by this player that features Al Hirt's
"Java."
Unfortunately, on that tune, while he does a good job he plays basically the
same arrangement as Hirt did on the original note for note, therefore I really
don't see the point of having put out an entire album with that as the
centerpiece.
Nevertheless, he plays some great tunes well on other of the album's tracks.
Aside from everything, Collier has/had a very nice tone. Very smooth player.
Anyone familiar with this guy?

In article <19971129170...@ladder01.news.aol.com>,

More to the point, is this fellow a trumpet player?

Several of us have the name. I'm quite sure we're not related.
James Lincoln Collier is a jazz writer and lives in the Hudson Valley.

In other words, you know the "Jim Collier" who's trumpet playing was featured
on the album?
