A friend of mine who does not have a computer asked me to post this: "I
have two 3 valve fluglehorns. One is a silver-plate Blessing (older but in
good condition) the other is an Olds in rose brass like new. I would like
to have a good quality 4 valve fluglehorn. Trades, buy-sell or whatever
considered. If interested please call Sam at (304) 656-7538."
Thanks,
DVJ

I wonder why he wants a four-valve. IMHO, the best flugels being made today
are all three-valve, including the new small bore Getzen. BTW, the Eclipse
flugel is my favorite with the Conn V1 not far behind.

It is fun to play around with a four valve, because you can play the notes
from third ledger line F# down to the C an octave below one ledger line C.
But after a while, you soon find out that the notes in this range do not
sound as good as they would on a larger instrument such as a euphonium or
trombone, and you get tired of screwing with them, and then pretty soon you
trade it in for a higher quality flugelhorn. I went through this stage with
my four valve Getzen. I sold it for about what I paid for it, and now I am
very happy with my Yamaha 635 ST.
