My local music storeds cant answer this:
A few years ago Yamaha put out the QY-10 and QY-20, a pair of battery
powered walkman like tone-module/sequencer boxes. I know they curently
have a QY-300 that has a floppy and is AC powered. Do they have any
other devices like the 20 or 10.

The big problem I had with the 20 was that it only had dry instruments,
ie. no effects loop built in. Also, it had a hard time comparing to the
Roland Sound Canvas (but we suspect that is because Roland compresses
their samples to give a much 'hotter' sound). otherwise it was a nice
little box.

Thanks

Try the Roland PMA-5: Sound Canvas generator with effects, 8 track
sequencer, arranger and a much nicer user interface (than the QY-10).

Dave, the QY-20 got replaced by the QY-22. Basically the same model
as the QY-20 but with now ALL GM sounds (none lacking as the QY-20).
