just asking as there seem to be loads of posts on fm's today...i can
just see the price of these things skyrocketing, stores prolly add 5$
for each post where someone says something cool about fm...
anyway,
i have a ds8 and was wondering how it compared to "real" yamaha fm.
i've never extensively played with a yam. fm, but i've heard lots of
nice harsh, cold, sharp and piercing fm sounds on records that the ds8
cannot quite recreate...but maybe it's just good eq. so anyone familiar
with fm out there who can compare the two?
another interesting point is that my roland mks70 can sound *exactly*
like the ds8 if i want it to. guess that's dco xmod for you.

I had always heard that there were many similarities between the two. If
memory serves me right, that came out shortly after Yamaha aquired a stake
in Korg, so it was the or one of the first to share technologies. If you
can, go back to the old Keyboard Magazine back issues and check out the
review. It probably sums it up quite well.
