Pros and Cons of each?

I play mainly piano and organ, but i love Vangelis and Floyd,
so i wouldn't mind the synth capability of the M3.

It seems to me that with the M3, you can modify the waveforms
in much greater detail, correct?

But i believe the M3 is more than twice as heavy, so from a
gigging
point of view, this is a disadvantage.

And of course, the M3 costs more......

Nord: great piano's and Hammond, waveforms are kind of presets, but
can be edited on a computer. I like the keyboard and the weight!

Korg: many more possibilities, but indeed heavier and more expensive.
Also I do not really care for the Korg sound.

Why not go for the Nord and add a little module from ebay (e.g. the
older Korg half space modules (05/something) if you like the synthy
sounds. Gives you a lighter set and is cheaper.

Ok, thanks for the input.

Can you tell me more specifics about the Korg half-rack modules?

Can you modify the waveforms "live", on-the-fly, when using
these
modules? Or can you only edit them before playing? And you do
have a more specific model # you had in mind?

Ok, I just tried both of them today, and guess what?

I don't really like the Nord Electro 3's organ sounds!!! The
hammond
didn't really do it for me, and the Farfisas sounded like a toy
organ!

And on top of that, the reverb on the Nord was strange sounding,
the
"stage" reverb, i believe. It sounded very unnatural at the "wetter"
settings.

I much preferred the pipe organ sounds on the Korg M3, and the
reverb
was much better there. The Korg sound was better, in my opinion.
I've come
to the realization that there is no such thing as a perfect keyboard,
and that
it really comes down to personal taste.

On the other hand, the feel of the Nord's fattter keys may have
been
a little better for me, and also the pianos maybe have had a little
edge on the
Nord. But not by much at all....in fact, the Korg M3 pianos were
VERY nice,
and there were more of them to choose from.

I'm quite surprised, because all the hype over the Nords sent my
expectations
through the roof, but it just didn't do it for me, except for the
compact size.

I might look for a used Korg Triton Extreme 76, just because it
will be cheaper,
and I probably won't need most of the M3's capabilities.
