My friends is looking to buy a high end synth and cannot decide between
a few of them.
He asked my opinion but I have not messed with any of them much, so I
figured I would get the opinion of others.

Specifically they are:
Access Virus
Novation SuperNova
Nord Modular
Korg Z1ex
Waldorf Microwave XT
Waldorf Q (slightly out of his price range but I tacked it on anyway to
get some opinions)

How do these things stack up against each other? Please don't respond
with "I have a ___ and it sounds good" as I know they are all good on
their own. I'm looking for A/B type comparisons. Or areas in which any
of the above keyboards are lacking.

Thanks!

Call me picky, but what do you call something that's more expensive than the
high end? :-) [Yes, I know, `unfinished' in the case of the Q....]

They are utterly different beasts. Virus and Supernova fall into one
class, and to a lesser degree, Microwave XT and Q are comparable as
well, but generally there is no point in a comparison beyond that - each
of them wins hands down on some specific task and won't do particularily
well on some others. It would be more helpful if you could tell us what
your friend wants to do.
