I have an 05R/W that I have been using as a midi module driven by
cakewalk s/w for the last several years. I really like the sound (or
did)
It has develped a nasty background hiss on the right channel only.
Any recommendations as to whether to try to get it repaired?
Is there a better option for the same amount of $$ be it s/w synthesis
or another module.
I am not really familiar with the current s/w synth space so I apologise
if this question is obvious to others.
I was just used to plugging in my keyboard or wind controller and
playing..
Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

I guess if it was me I'd get on eBay and pick up another one, probably for
less than $200. Better yet, get an X5DR, which has twice as many samples
and polyphony and still have your 05R/W sounds in the same box! Just picked
up another one for myself for a little over $200. I too really like the
samples in these two boxes. The repair might be simple or not, don't know.
A qualified repair shop ought to be able to give you an estimate. HTH - -
