Compression, parametric EQ and a good ear is the key.

It's not necessarily so much the specific equipment they use as *how* they
use it.

I'm not sure which synths are used in this song, but I know Toby Smith uses
Nord Lead (2? -> I guess so) and Yamaha's AN1X. I'm interested too. I'll let
you know if I know it...

Neat. That's what I got too.

I think I saw these synths on live perfomances which were broadcasted on TV.
The Nord can be recognised from a distance of course, because of the black
and white keys ;-)
The best Jamiroquai URL's are www.funkin.net/jamiroquai www.jamiroquai.com
and of course the official one you already mentioned. I looked for the FAQ,
but sadly enough this isn't a frequently asked question.

>But I did find a dedicated newsgroup called "alt.music.jamiroquai", and

Maybe a visit to the IRC chatbox on Undernet called #jamiroquai will help,
hoping there is someone there on that moment who knows it. The chatbox is
always full of people. But the newsgroup is a great idea. I forgot about
that.

>I'll post a message here if I find out more.

That's great! I'd like to know it too. You can also mail me at

You lucky one ;-)
I only own a Yamaha EX5, but it has the AN synthesis too... :-)

I know that they use a Memorymoog or have used a memorymoog on past
recordings. That will get you some fat bass.

When I saw them on TV a year or so ago, maybe on one of the MTV awards shows,
the keyboard player had a Rhodes, Moog Source, Hohner Clavinet/Pianet Duo,
Yamaha P150, and Yamaha CS1x.

Daniel.
