Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for information on a reasonably priced program that allows
me to scan music into a program like PrintMusic so that I can edit it
and add fingering.

I've heard of a program called SmartScore but at $400 is not something
that I can justify just for the few songs that I can play.

Thanks
Joe

But PrintMusic includes a version of SmartScore (SmartScore Lite), it
should do everything you need unless you want to scan in full
orchestra scores! And there is an upgrade path through the Finale
products if PrintMusic doesn't give you everything you need on the
music side (the most likely limitation to come up is if you want
quirky time signatures), and I think on the smart score side too, if
that orchestra score comes along one day!

Is there an "auto transpose" feature in PrintMusic? I'd like to be
able to scan something in, then have the program transpose the entire
piece to a different key. Is this possible or would I have to look at
another program for that feature? Thanks.

I've used PrintMusic for exactly that purpose. I'm still a novice at
it, but it really only took a few keystrokes to transpose a song.

Just upgraded to the 2008 version and the scan feature works 100%
better than my 2006 version. You scan directly from the program. There
are almost always a few things that need to be corrected once the
music is scanned, but it is much more accurate than before. Pretty
slick.
