the reason I ask:
I have been looking for a small 72 bass, 3 treble reed chromatic C
system. I have checked:
Pigini, Beltrami, Fisitalia, Bafettti, Gabanelli, Allesandrini,
Victoria, Fratelli Crossio, Beltuna, Petosa and some others - none
build a 72 bass CBA with 3 reeds - 72 bass with 2 reeds are common,
and 3 and sometimes 4 reed 96 bass are not too hard too find.
Excelsior makes one! The model 673 - I have not got a solid price on
one yet but it is the design I am looking for.
Another question - why is it hard to find a 72 bass 3 treble reed CBA
when every company makes these models in a PA?
A final question: Does anyone know of another company making a model
like this?
thanks

Excelsior is now made by Pigini. Not worth consideration unless you can get
a credible firm commitment for custom reeds. That will cost more of course.
I have seen the reeds in the new Excelsiors made by Pigini and didn't like
them much.
It would be very difficult or impossible to find a used accordion in that
configuration. One reason is import restrictions on chromatic accordions in
a misguided attempt to protect the Louisiana Cajun accordion makers. Also
the Italian industry was making a lot more PA's due to the vast accordion
schoolk racket in the 1950's.
There were some antique 80 bass with 2/5 reed sets by Dallape. I have a C
chromatic 80 bass made in Germany in the 1920's with Koch reeds and new
bellows. Would consider selling it for $2500.
I would think you could get a Compact-49 with 72 basses, if that's
what you want. But why not just get it with the standard 96 basses?
Don't you ever need that C#?
I have no experience with the recent Excelsiors, but postings to this
group indicate that current production is, to be charitable, not as
good as it used to be.

You have to be a bit careful with Excelsior now, the instruments are
not made by Pigini directly as such, the company is owned by Pigini.
The potential problem with Excelsior is that some of the instruments
are made in Italy and some in Rumania (I think, at least - somewhere
over that way). However, the split is on a model basis (so one model
will not have mixed origin) and your dealer should know which models
are made in Italy and which are not. The only non-Italian one I've had
in my hand so far was a 3-row diatonic, and I must say I put it down
again rather quickly, whereas their 2-row diatonic (Bretagne) was very
clearly Italian and excellent. I think, but not sure, all the PA and
CBAs are still italian at the moment, but as I said your dealer should
know - the company does not keep it secret but doesn't shout about it
either!
thanks Ike
I also found 72 bass 3 reed models made by Polverini and Excalibur.
But most importantly I found a 72 bass 3 treble reed made by
weltmeister - I like the sound of their accordions, and the
weltmeister is about a third of the price of the excelsior. the model
number is 60/72/III/5. If I go the 72 bass model this is the one I
will get. If I get a second job for the holidays i might be able to
swing this.
For my main accordion am still thinking of a 4 reed 96 bass. Comments
on any of the following accordions or companies will be appreciated:
Vignoni - the Philarmonic 30, although I could do without the tone
chamber.
Beltrami - the C3 and C105
Cooperfisa-the super cesare 705
Fantini SCR/12/S
International Music Company (IMC) - The super gala
Beltuna and Victoria are probably out of my price range but both have
4 reed 96 bass models.
This is a more long term savings as it requires me selling my
Fisitalia.
when they say cassoto mussette or DO what does that mean?
thanks

Hello,
I am new on this forum and quite new in the accordeon wolrd. i have
been learning this wonderful instrument for three monthes and have a
lot of fun;
I mainly like jazz, swing and king of gipsy swing.
I have the opportunity to buy from a friend a Fisitalia Compact 49
from a friend for around 3000 Euros.
What do you think of this instrument ? Is that a good one , Could i
have a better one at this price ?
Is that appropriate for playong jazz (it seems to be tunes in a swing
way)
Thank you very much for your answer. i nedd it because i am a bit lost
regarding the range of accordions.
Paul
I would email fisitalia and find out what price they are going for new
and then decide if 3 thousand euros is a good price.
they will respond to you very quickly with a quote.
russ
Dear Paul,
Public price for Compact 49 is 4200.00 Euros without any options.
So if it is like new I suppose you have bought it at a resonable
price.
Fisitalia is really a good brand.I have one 41-45 TC piano with midi
and as an accordiopn collector I love it and it is my best instrument
in collection.

Joe Regina also was selling his fisitalia 4 treble reed (LMMH) 120
bass for 3000 I think, no mics or midi but a great accordion as well
with handmade reeds also. I don't know if he sold it or not.
I have tentatively sold my Fisitalia to a man in Muskegon, MI. His
family bought it for him as a Christmas gift so it's going to be a
surprise to him. He has until January 2nd to decide if he wants to
keep it or return it to me. There is always the possibilty that he may
not like it.
It sold on eBay for $3,000 plus shipping and insurance ($94.05). There
was only one bidder, so the demand for accordions is far lower then
the supply and the price reflects that. I believe he got a bargain,
but the conforting thought is that it has found a good home that will
cherish it.
Best Chrsitmas wishes to all and Happy Holiday wishes to our non-
christian friends.
Kindest regards,
Joe Regina
If the guy who is getting it is a chromatic player, I can see no
reason he would want to send that accordion back, If he wants a 120
bass C system chromatic How could he not like it? He got a good deal
and an excellent accordion
I am not in a real rush to sell mine - I do want a smaller one, 96
bass, but I do love my snow queen. I will have to save up a couple of
grand more after I sell it to get the 96 bass I want 4 reed LMMH with
tone chambers and mics, no midi though.
