Accordion repairers might be interested in a new PC based tuner
developed by Dirk Wolters in the Netherlands. It is aimed at
accordions but could be used for other instruments. It can
'listen' to up to three reeds at once and display their pitch
(in cents) and simulataneously display the 'width' or wetness
of the reeds. Being able to 'listen' to two or more reeds at
once is particularly useful as experienced tuners know.
It also claims to measure the basses(multi tones in different
octaves) and chords in one go. Dicks site and free trial
download are at

G-tune can run in multiple windows on a PC, to measure different notes, as
well as partials.and costs less. The only thing G-tune doesn't do that you
claim this does, is measure tremolo. But that can pretty well be done by
ear.
$124 is a lot to pay for this new tuning software. If I downloaded it and
found it better than G-tune I would be forced to buy it. I think I will
pass, and wait for someone else to review it.

Hello Ike,
I'm not a salesman for Dirk's accordion tuner. We're both accordion
fanatics and into some web activity. I've only just downloaded a free
trial version of the tuner myself and trying out its features.

Hi Gordon,

I downloaded this program and attempted to check it for free, how it
really works? The beginning message was telling me time after time,
that my regular microphone that I use for recording on my PC Windows is
not connected. So, I removed everything in reference to that program
and ended that fiasco.
I think it needs a lot of work and more improvement and after that it
might be useful in the future I think.

I record some melodies for the fun using that microphone, so this
program should work on my computer.
Here is the 3.2 MB file in mp3 foramt of the quite long melody of "Over
the Waves" waltz. That's how "old timers" use to play it when I was
young. if somebody cares to listen to - here it is:

Warning! it might load for a few minutes, if you have slow IPS.

I will remove it from my web space this weekend. I play it from the
memory. I displaced the music notes long time ago and cannot find it.

Enjoy it,
W.D.

Hi Walter, although this type of music is not my cup of tea, I must
admit you brang good memories to me. My uncle use to sing this (first)
song and he was a very good singer. I regret that he passed away before
I had the chance to record his singing. Sad.

Wasn't it called something like :

"When you are in Love" or "I'm dreaming of you" ?

I remember those lyrics that my uncle used with that tune.

Thanks for sharing Walter.

Below is the massage I got from Dirk from NL. I feel really sorry,
that it didn't work for me as yet. I hope that it will work someday
and this should be very good program for accordion tuners.

<<<<Dear W.D.

I stumbled across your complaint about the accordion tuner on the
internet. I hope you understand that I like to hear about things that
don't work and not read about it on the internet.

I'm selling this tuner for over a year now and never had any
complaint. A lot of professional accordion tuners and manufacturers are
using it.

Now, I know that something is not working right. I would be very happy
if you would be willing to help me do some testing so I can fix the
problem.

Kind regards,
Dirk

I appeal to all persons who try this program now, to direct all
encountered problem to the Dirk's personal attention, so he might work
on its improvements in continuing fashion.

Best Regards,
W.D.

Hey, Ike. I've just bought a totally sweet new button accordeon in
Quebec. I'll be in the DC area in a week or maybe a couple of weeks.
Will you have time for a little "tuning mapping" and reed touch up some
time after the middle of September?
Thanks, Bruce
