My kids have been hassling me to play the signature tune from the old
children's TV cartoon series "Captain Pugwash". I believe it is a
traditional hornpipe; does anyone know it's title?

It's called the Trumpet Hornpipe. It's in a number of abc collection as
both Captain Pugwash and/or Trumpet Hornpipe. Try

It's called Trumpet Hornpipe, it came from a traditional
player in NE england to whom the BBC allegedly paid £2
(two pounds) for rights to the tune....

There are various versions in circulation, but i'm not sure
where it is printed.

The tune is called - Trumpet Hornpipe

I heard that a new series is being made for TV. Apparently all those
jokes about Seaman Stains etc were an urban myth.

It's nice to know what it's real name is.

"Captain Pugwash" is well worth learning.
Not only is it great fun to play, it often brings in a free beer or two
when all else fails.
(Although I play it on the harmonica)
