For those interested:

Concertina & Squeezebox is, indeed, still in business. We've just had to take
a break; it occasionally happens with small specialist journals that are run
on an entirely volunteer, no-profit basis; in my case, it was an excess of
work in my professional life complicated by serious family illness and the
resultant time spent out in Washington State. In other words, I've been
frantically busy and the magazine has not been a priority. However, things
are gradually improving although I have a lot of catching up to do; not only
with the magazine but in other areas.

Most readers understand the necessity of occasional delays...I believe John
Townley once went two years between issues.

Also, as usual we're awaiting subscription renewals from the last issue
before we can afford to pay the printers: what most readers don't realise is
that I took over the magazine with precisely $100 in capital---I never had a
good financial rock on which to build. So each issue pays for the next as
subscriptions come due; when they're not renewed, we simply have to wait
until we have enough dollars to go to press. The subscription price is really
too low to meet costs anyhow. Fortunately, the readers are a very generous
bunch of folks, so we usually muddle through thanks to donations and
advertisements.

Also, I formerly subsidised each issue of C&S myself, usually to the tune of
$400-500, but I can't afford to anymore. So we do have to wait longer thanks
to the need for the extra money.

However, I have the strongest commitment to C&S and would like to reassure
everyone that it will, indeed, surface shortly. The next issue should be out
late this Spring, and my intent is to publish every four months thereafter;
more than that is simply unrealistic; a typical issue takes at least a couple
of weeks of my time! So that's six weeks out of a year when I'm not making an
income.....think about it.

#33 contains an interview (with splendid photographs) of Jennifer Cutting
(accordion & duet concertina wiz with Washington's "The New St. George") as
well as a longer one with Noel Hill; news of Harold Herrington's new anglo
concertinas (which are really very good!) and all the usual reviews etc.

All best wishes,
Joel Cowan/Editor

Hello:

Does anyone know if there has been a recent issue of Concertina &
Squeezebox published? I haven't had a copy in the mail for quite a long
time but have a current subscription.

Just thinking out loud.
