Is this likely? Even possible?

And the starting bid?

Wonder if he'll accept the Brooklyn Bridge in payment?

Or am I just too cynical?

Well, It is possible. But I would not take his word on it unless there
was some pretty convincing documentation. So far I have met three
different people who have
claimed to own an accordion previously owned or played by Mr. Welk.
Even then, Mr. Welk played a number of accordions in his lifetime and
it is doubtful that an accordions value would increase significantly
just because he played it a few times. Unless there was some special
significance, event or association with the accordion and undisputed
documentation, then its just another old box worth at most a few
hundred dollars.
Just my opinion.

I have an LP album signed by Myron Florin. Anyone interested? (For real).

I also think it's an instrument made not before 1950. However, I agree
with John: it's worth no more than 2-300 dollars, it also depends from
the conditions (which seem be, at first look, bad).

I have Lawrence Welk's autograph, and I know it is authentic because it
was signed for and given to my Mother In Law when she saw his show when
she was a young girl in Cleveland. He was doing the pre show for a
movie. The movie got top billing!

I stuck it in a Myron and Lawrence "World's Greatest Polkas" CD that my
mom bought for me the year Myron died. So now I have this fabulous
momento of American Americana given to me by both my moms. So, Make me
an offer. But, I kinda like having it so be sure to make it a big
offer.

They are both playing Panaccordion brand accordions on the CD cover
which was made 60 years later than that one in ebay makes its claim to
be.

Best wishes - if you can get something that you value personally, I say
go for it.

The one picture lends a surrealist touch, with the table and computer
monitor floating upside down in the air. It may be the computer monitor
of Salvador Dali. Or maybe Lawrence Welk is upside down.

Dear Dave,

You are right!!! LW is floating around someplace up there, I am sure.

After posting about my fabulous Welk autograph and CD, the "accordion
star autograph fairy" must have stopped by my house, because someone
left me a very lovely autographed Lynn Marie postcard in my front door
today!!! It was signed to ME even, so I have someone to thank for
thinking of me, as soon as I find out who it is!!!
