once you've paid TAXI your annual subscription, does this mean you can
bomard them with untold numbers of songs, at no extra cost?

and do they have to "radio ready"??

hope not

I have this 'Elvis moment' fantasy

where an A&R man sees through the lousy production values to see the gold
that glisters beneath. . . . .

more like Elvis films

he'd be playing a singer on his uppers in some dive with a lousy PA system

when in all the gin-joints in all the world some talent scout would walk in.

Last time I checked it was $5 a submission. Submit 3 songs to a given
opportunity, and that's $15.

It depends on the pitch. You have to look at the instructions.
Anything for film/TV/ads/etc. will need to be "broadcast quality".
Typically that at least means a clear (or intentionally distorted)
recording with high quality performances, but some contexts may go in
other directions. It doesn't necessarily mean a full arrangement,
though, as something might call for solo piano or accordion or whatever.

For song-only pitches it doesn't always need to be broadcast quality,
though it will at least be important that the recording sells the song.
Sometimes there will be specific instructions for those, too, though,
that say it has to sound like a radio hit or that specify the gender of
the singer.

The best way to get an idea is to read their listings, which are updated
twice a month:

http://www.taxi.com/industry.php

Make sure and read them closely before choosing something to send (or
sending anything at all), though. It's not likely that pitching a great
song for an opportunity that it doesn't fit will get you anywhere, other
than out another $5.

at first glance, you'd have thought there'd be more Country

but on reflection, they're expected to write their own stuff

so they can sing it 'from the heart'
