That should only enhance the uniqueness as it would give artists more
exposure to different styles, and even forms...a bigger marketplace of
ideas - at least in theory anyway ;)

That's a guaranteed formula for pure me-too Crap - and that's exactly
what's happening.
My attitude about songwriting is that my songs are not everyone, only
those who like them ;)

NO!!!
I LOVE Lots of chords, augmented, diminished, added, 6ths maj7ths,
min7ths, dominant 7ths, sus2s, sus4s, and of course, slash chords - makes
playing keyboards all that much more FUN ;)
