I have a curved WW/BW soprano in black nickel. On pure aesthetics
alone, its a winner...it'll elicit more comments than your average
soprano.

The comments regarding intonation are well-founded, BUT, I think alot of
it can be attributed to the mpc...I changed to an Otto Link, and its
MUCH better over the runyon I had. With that said, I've played on an
expensive Yani' and its no better than the WW/BW. And I don't even want
to begin about an old Yamaha YSS-52 my high school has now...ick.

Bottom line: I dont' believe many sopranos are in-tune, but the players
who play them coax them into doing so.

I agree with Ron: Buy the horn and have fun.

I bought a curved Woodwind soprano a year ago and have nothing but good
things to say about it. I use a Woodwind Imperial mouthpiece (hard rubber),
Royal Rico reeds (2.5), and a Rovner ligature. The result has been a
beautiful warm, round, full tone that never, and I mean NEVER has gone out
of tune while I've had it ( I check regularly).

I've had opportunities to compare it with an older Yanagasawa, a Selmer, and
a very old Buescher. Frankly, I find it to have equally good if not better
sound than the rest. Maybe I got lucky with this particular horn. For the
money I don't think you will find a better sounding instrument.

My two cents ....

I had the WW&BW send me both (their brand and a Yamaha). I have been
playing alto, but was new to soprano. The Yamaha was so much easier to play
that I was astonished. I had tested a Winston at a local store and would
compare the WW&BW model to that. I have had my Yamaha since Christmas and
still love it!
