THe CVP-3 is about 5 years old, the P-55 (electric piano midi box) brand
new.

What is funny is that the keyboard and pedals appear to work with other
Roland midi boxes and that the P-55 appears to work with other keyboards,
it is only this combination. It sounds like the pedals have an almost
negligible effect on the sounds (ie the sustain pedal might actually
sustain a tiny bit). It seems as though the pedal MIDI numbers being sent
across are truncated by the keyboard or the P-55.

The P-55 sounds great, but without the pedals working, I am not going to
keep it.

Gregory,

You might check P-55 to find out if it's patched to respond to Midi controller
number 64. This is the default controller number for the sustain pedal.
Conversely, you should find out if the keyboard is transmitting the pedal
when it's down or up as well as which controller is being used to transmit
the pedal signal. Whether on the CVP-3 or on the P-55, you should have the
two agree on the pedal controller number. Unless there's a good reason, stick
to controller 64 for conventions sake.
