Baldur was founded in 1872.
Later Ferdinand and Hermann Schaaf, Zweigwerk Deggendorfer Pianobau GmbH.
Production ended in 1956.
Later Build in DDR until 1960.
Around 1920 also Baldur-Berdux.
The serial number indicates that it was build around 1915.

This is interesting. The Pierce Atlas doesn't give that much info on the
company, just that it was located in Frankfurt, Germany, started in 1872, and
in 1914 the serial numbers stared at 12600.
What is the source of your information?

I hope you understood that I wasn't doubting your info, just curious as to
where you found it. It makes me want to own a copy of the book you're using.
All I have is a Pierce Atlas.
I'm at home now, so I don't have my Pierce Atlas handy. I'll see if it fails
the test when I get back to the store. :-)
PG has a copy. How about it PG, does a Newcombe Toronto upright ser# 17482 show
up in Pierce?
You can order a copy (not online yet).
For details see: http://www.das-musikinstrument.de/books/books.htm
I think I will get me a copy off Pierce too.
>>I hope you understood that I wasn't doubting your info,
I have no doubt that you were doubting my info, no doubt about it :-))
Truly ye have misjudged me, kind sir. I was honestly curious. Didn't doubt it
for a second. Now if you had missed the startup date (basically the only info
Pierce gives) I might have had doubts, but your info matched.
Just joking Larry.
