My concern is that after searching the web (finding only UK sites with the
item) and looking closely at the product literature, I think what I bought
is a grey-market good destined for sale in the UK. This really means that
the 5 Year Warranty is no good at all.
I would like to know of any opinions you may have of this product and any
general suggestions on whether there is cause for any anxiety on my part.
Thanks in anticipation

Well, you could have gone to the store, found out about some models, then
went back home to do the research.

There are three possible outcomes:
1. Your 10-year-old will show an aptitude for the piano, in which case
you'll have to go out and get a real piano, thus wasting your $1300 casio
purchase.
2. Your 10-year-old doesn't show any talent, and you wasted $1300 on your
casio
3. Your 10-year-old will be frustrated because he's playing on a casio
keyboard, and you'll never know if he's got any ability for learning the
Piano or not!
You must have purchased your piano here:

It's the nearest MN dealer to you listed in my NAMM directory that carries
CASIO. Didn't they tell you about the Warranty when you purchased it?

I have used many different Casio products and have been very pleased
with them.
Regarding the warranty issue. If your salesman said you have a five
year warranty and in fact you do not have a warranty get your money
back. I highly reccomend screaming and feet stomping while there are
alot of customers in the store. It may seem childish but it is much
quicker than small claims court and thieves deserve to have feet held
in the fire . . . a little bit.
Important note: Make sure you have your facts straight before you
escalate to screaming. Humble pie does not taste good.
Good luck,
Ed
