Hi,
I just went to a Piano store and the person sold me on a CAsio AP-28 digital
piano with 3 pedals. This has 8 tones and sounds very nice and for $1300 was
what I thought was great for my 10 year old who is just starting to learn.

My concern is that after searching the web (finding only UK sites with the
item) and looking closely at the product literature, I think what I bought
is a grey-market good destined for sale in the UK. This really means that
the 5 Year Warranty is no good at all.

I would like to know of any opinions you may have of this product and any
general suggestions on whether there is cause for any anxiety on my part.

Thanks in anticipation

Well, you could have gone to the store, found out about some models, then
went back home to do the research.

There are three possible outcomes:

1. Your 10-year-old will show an aptitude for the piano, in which case
you'll have to go out and get a real piano, thus wasting your $1300 casio
purchase.

2. Your 10-year-old doesn't show any talent, and you wasted $1300 on your
casio

3. Your 10-year-old will be frustrated because he's playing on a casio
keyboard, and you'll never know if he's got any ability for learning the
Piano or not!

You must have purchased your piano here:

It's the nearest MN dealer to you listed in my NAMM directory that carries
CASIO. Didn't they tell you about the Warranty when you purchased it?

hi
you spent 1300 on a casio??????????
take it back
i dont mean to rain on your parade
but there are so many other better options
and whatever you do after that
avoid that salesman like the plague
i am an electronic piano tech
and our shop wouldn't even take them in
even if your warranty is good
odds are you'd have a hard time finding
a service center for it
i am sorry you didn't talk to this group first
but now i hope you know
condolences

I have used many different Casio products and have been very pleased
with them.

Regarding the warranty issue. If your salesman said you have a five
year warranty and in fact you do not have a warranty get your money
back. I highly reccomend screaming and feet stomping while there are
alot of customers in the store. It may seem childish but it is much
quicker than small claims court and thieves deserve to have feet held
in the fire . . . a little bit.

Important note: Make sure you have your facts straight before you
escalate to screaming. Humble pie does not taste good.

Good luck,
Ed

Hi
I do not really like the ton of most of others people they made their comments: "you have to", "how could yo?", etc etc... If whoever spent money on any other things will never think even this way...
I have pretty good experience as a "musician" and as a father of top musicians in the country - and so proud of IT - sure I am :)
Sure we make mistske - all of us and all our life - but some people make not to many - why? - because they do NOTHING.
Sure you could buy a "cheaper" instrument, but:
(story from my own life): me and my brother studing violin, but my brother had really great instrumrnt - the sound was amazing, and my violin was sounding "soso" - in my opinion pretty "crapppppy" - so - do I have to ask you to guess what was the "end" of the story? My end was pretty fast but my brother's and practically "never" - he is a doctor but one of his passion is playing on his great violin. Myself - I do not play on violin, but loved and love it very much. When my kids were 5+ I created a huge passion to violin and it worked - fantastically - most probably because my own passion was huge and pure... .
I did not have to much money, but ONE THING I KNEW EXTREMELY WELL!!! - I knew that I HAVE TO BUY THEM GOOD INSTRUMENTS!!! - and I did IT and THEY DID IT - Iam so proud of Them and - of my decissions from years.
So - You Are GREAT FATHER AND MAN and do not count the money you are investing in education of your children - because is the BEST INVESTMENT EVER and this is the ONLY TIME YOU CAN DO IT - ater the time you will have just 2 options:
1) PROUDNESS
...OR
2) REGRETS
- choice is yours.
You are arleady GREAT - so why to change it... :)
Best Regards
Jerzy
