I am narrowing my piano purchasing decision down to Schimmel and Seiler. Both
are about equal in price (for the 6' version). The sound and the feel of the
Schimmels seem to vary more between each other but there are plenty of great
playing and sounding ones. The Seiler is less well know but they are stunning
pianos. If anyone has any thoughts about a good reason to select one over the
other let me know.

Thanks

Did you ever had the opportunity to play them side by side? I had. Play
them hard, and you may notice that the Schimmel tops out earlier than
the Seiler in terms of timbre changes at ff and louder. On the actions,
the Schimmel has a Renner action and I thought that the Seiler has a
Renner action as well. This would mean equal quality of the actions,
slightly different feel perhaps, but that's in the realm of individual
preference. IOW, I would consider the Seiler a little higher quality
than the Schimmel.

Hi there:

>I am narrowing my piano purchasing decision down to Schimmel and Seiler.

I like them both, and it will come down to personal choice. I wish they
wouldn't put that garish "S E I L E R" logo the side of their pianos!

Seiler make their own actions. They are very good as well though!
I agree with you on the quality matter.

I narrowed my purchase down to those two also, although for an upright. I
finally choose the Seiler. I was a fairly new player at the time, but the
Seiler just felt better, sounded fuller. Now, I have a new piano teacher
who uses Schimmel grand, and I like the feel of my Seiler better. The
Shimmel action is too light (for me), it feels more like my weighted
keyboard. I absolutely love my Seiler, and have never regretted the choice
I made.
