I read one should practice this kind of Bach piece one hand
at a time (right or left hand alone). I've done this a bit, and it
seems to help.
The trills are particularly difficult for me. Any tips on
getting your
trills stronger and cleaner?
With the trills, I'd say how you
play them depends on the tempo
you use.
Notice that Gould for example,
plays this one slowly, and he is
able to get 4-note trills finished
before he gets to the next 16th
note beat of the left hand, which
gives it a bit of a flair.
Whereas I see another video where
it is played faster, and the fourth
note of the trill is played at the
same time as the next 16th note beat
of the left hand.

Yeah, I've taken a lesson since, and the
teacher told me to not lose contact with the
keys when doing a trill. I didn't notice that
I was lifting my fingers too high! This alone
has improved my efficiency, and my trills
sound a bit better already, more even.
And I've discovered a good exercise for this
Bach piece: 4 note trills, moving up and down in
the key of C Major (all white keys). 6 note trills
are good to practice too.....
