According to the "Pierce Piano Atlas",
The Laffargue Piano Co. was established in 1896 at 134 & Southern Blvd.
New York. Aeolian American used the name.
In most cases, old upright pianos are not worth the money to fully
restore them. A full restoration usually involves replacing all the strings,
replacing/rebuilding the action parts and more. This can become pretty
expensive.
If you would like to learn more about pianos, we have over 400 pages of
information on our Web site including listings of companies that specialize
in restoration, piano tuners and lots of general information.

To judge from a 1914 Laffargue upright player piano I did some
maintenance on recently, the Laffargues of that era at least had a
connection with the American Piano Co, because the plate said: MADE FOR
THE SIMON PIANO CO and was exceedingly similar to that of the Wendell &
Marshall, one of Ampico's "badges". In 1934 Ampico were taken over by
Aeolian, to make the Aeolian-American Corpn.
The piano I thought (from a European perspective) had a really good tone,
but the player action, a Standard, despite being a good example, was not
anything like as good as a contemporary Aeolian action. The name SEAVERNS
appeared, rather confusingly, on the half-blow rail (the rail that pushes
the hammers forward when you actuate the soft pedal).
