Hi!

I'm hoping to have some information about a composer Gerald Martin who
appears in many The Joy of ... books together with Denes Agay. After
spending few hours browsing I just found out few songs he wrote. My
son is participating to a piano competition playing a song of Martins
and to get this song qualified I need to provide the date of birth of
the composer etc. I hope someone can advice me where to find more
information.

Thanks!

Ossi

Gerald Martin, composer, is a pseudonym for the Hungarian-born composer Denes Agay, born in 1912, in a small town near Budapest. He died 24 January 2007 in California. Agay moved to USA in 1939 to escape the Nazis. His Jewish parents were killed at Auschwitz. In his composing, Agay often used the name Gerald Martin for pieces of a more popular nature, often adaptations or arrangements of existing songs (eg Dark Eyes Boogie, Meet Frankie and Johnny) reserving the name Denes Agay for his original works.
