I would say Grade 8 (according to Associated Board of the Royal School
of Music (ABRSM, UK)).

(?) Grade 10 RCM (Toronto); as a List C selection (The Romantics).

So, you like your Schubert, do you? And why not? - somewhat unique.

Such beautiful music from an individual suffering such a horrid life.

IIRC, the following Opp are ~ equivalents: 90/4; 142/3; 142/4; 94/4.

Cheers!

Is this information available on the web? It appears to be much more
detailed than, say, Maurice Hinson's book where his comments on the
difficulty of Schubert Opus 90 and Op 142 are 'Moderately Difficult' for
both. His does include a few additional comments like 'requires brilliant
fingerwork in the outer sections (Op 90 No. 2) and 'the most difficult of
the set' (Op 142 No. 4); but there is no piece-by-piece rating.

What are the ratings for the ones you omitted? 90/1 90/3 142/1

Best regards,
John

Be careful. It's a real rain forest out there.

Op.90/1 & Op.142/1 have both appeared on Grade 8 (ABRSM, UK) syllabus
lists in the past, as has Op.142/3 in Bb. I have not seen any of the
other impromptus on ABRSM lists, but I would say Op.90/2 is about the
same level.

The RCM Canada syllabus lists both the Op. 90/1 and Op. 142/1 as ARCT
(Performer)level pieces...very advanced.

The Op. 90/2 or 90/4 and the Op. 142/3 or 142/4 are graded slightly
less difficult at Grade 10.

Op. 142/2 is Grade 9.

Hope this is helpful

Thanks Joel. I guess Hinson was being descriptive enough when saying both
Op 90 and Op 142 were 'Moderately Difficult!

John
