I know that I love to talk about how Fusion is a dead music and I
still stand by that for the most part, but after hearing Vinnie with
Jeff Beck on this recording, I had to change my mind at least for that
period in time. As great as Narada Michael Walden was on Lead Boots
and Simon Phillips was on Space Boogie, Vinnie just tears them a new
ass on those tunes. Same thing with Cobham's tune Stratus. If you have
Rhapsody, you can check it out for free, but Vinnie just kills on that
recording.

What do you think of Tal Wilkenfeld? I love her melodic lines.

I watched that also, and I loved it. Jeff has always had great drummers and
they've had a big impact on me as a player over the years. I've also been
influenced a lot by the way Jeff interprets the songs, and how that changes
over the years.

I will definitely buy this DVD.

Do a youtube search for Big Block live at Clapton's concert. Beck
actually sounds kinda sloppy on the track, but Vinnie and Tal just tear
it up, especially this insane roll thing he does on a break that he
tracks with his dual kick pedals, even Jeff looks back at him
with one of those "Where the F did you pull that from?" looks,
priceless.. And the club DVD of the London shows is also
very, very good, especially Tal doing a great solo on Ended
as Lovers.
