Sabian/Zildjian relationship?

Hey; quick question. I'm sure it's common knowledge to everyone but me,
but is there some truth to the rumor that Sabian was founded by some
disaffected relative of Avedis Zildjian? No biggie, just curiosity on
my part.

Robert Zildjian the owner of Sabian is the brother of Armand Zildjian.After a
dissagreement in the early eighties He split and formed Sabian named after
his kids SAlly ans BIlly zildjIAN

There was a pretty lengthy interview with Robert in an issue of MD or Drum
(I can't remember which) last year, in which he detailed the rift. Pretty
interesting stuff.

Well actually the person who started up Sabian was Bill Zildjian who is the
brother of Armand Zildjian the head guy of Zildjian and them both were in
the Zildjian company.
But in the early 80's they spilt up and went their separate ways.
Bill went to Canada to start up Sabian and Armand stayed in America to
continue with Zildjian.
The thing what happened was Bill wanted to change the cymbals like the "AA
Rocktagon Crash"
and Armand wanted to stay with the normal cymbals and everything went on by
then to today.
Bill = Sabian Armand = Zildjian

Well I can't think of both of their names but Armande and his brother were
working with Zildjian and one had different plans then the other, one of the
brothers took off and formed Zildjians sister company Sabian. They are both
using the same technigques and due to the Zildjians owner now some female
named Cammy Zildjian or something she has butchered Zildjian to no end but
has done some new things. She has published that so called secret recipe in
which Sabian already has and has now perfected. If don't believe me, you
shoulda watched CNN's special on Zildjian.

I believe the company was named after Bob's three kids: SAlly, BIlly,
and ANdy. As an aside, the disagrement was caused when Avedis Zildjian
III died and left the company to the oldest son (Armand), which had
been the tradition for the 375 years that Zildjian has been around.
Robert Zildjian wanted to have joint ownership of the company, but this
was denied him.

The other brother is Bob Zildjian, and he's a very nice guy. There was
a court battle for the Zildjian name, and Armand being older won.
Bob started Sabian, and the name Sabian is derived from the first two
letters of his childrens names.

I don't know if they "disloke" each other, but if you're
asking if they have any dealings together, the answer is no.
There was a blood feud about the direction of the Zildjian
company as was stated earlier.
The Canadian factory that Bob Zildjian owns was the K.
Zildjian which was always a separate company from a
different side of the family. The K line was consolidated
into the A. line when the two brothers went to court.
