I used to pronounce it like 'Pert' the shampoo, but was told to pronounce it
like 'Pear', the fruit, with a 't' at the end.

Actually, it rhymes with "Paiste."

Neither - it ryhmes with "ear", and sounds like Peeert.

Apparently when Rush was touring, the crew would leave Pert shampoo
bottles at Neil's hotel door just to mess with him! He was sorta
sensitive about the pronunciation of his name, and very impressed with
anyone who actually got it right!

Now, how do you pronounce Carmine Appice's first and last names?!
How about Doane Perry?

Correct Burmuda, that's how I've heard his name pronounced ? PEE-ert. No
kiddin'

Vinnie (and Carmine) Appice's last name is pronounced AP-i-SEE.

I would assume Doane Perry's name is DOE-ann PEAR-ee. Right? (Saw Jethro
Tull at the Rose Garden Ampitheater last summer and was completely blown
away ? they played 'Songs from the Wood' WOO-HOO!)

What about Jack Dejohnette? (Dijon -like the mustard, - ET?)

Manu Katche? ? MAN-oo Catch-AYE??

Omar Hakim ? OH-mar Hock-EEM?

Any others??

Let me take a shot at this one.... first name is pronounced as spelled....
"car-mine", last name is pronounced "a piz ee" with the accent on the first
syl., but not a long A, as in APE iz ee.

It's actually pronounced DOAN, rhymes with phone.

Probably HOCK-em if it's a true middle-eastern derived name.

Should be one syllable though.

That combination of e & a in words has many sounds:

earth
heart
read
head
ear
teat

Interesting....hmmm?

It's TOM-UH (TAMA) A little history as told to me by Taka Hoshino. Tama
means star ( in the sky), Tama was Mr. Hoshino's grandmother that he was
close to. That's how the name came about. See ya, Mike Carter

sorry, but you're wrong.
listen to it again,
as well as 'rapunzel" of BTCS at the end you can hear someone whispering
"carter 'BO-ferd' on the drums" over and over
you can also check out the 'recently' ep, dave says the same sentence loudly
at the end of "Haloween"

by the way: carter beauford is pronounced BOH-ferd. I thought it was BEAU-ford
(like beauty) but Dave says it on red rocks like BOH-ferd.

Just my 2 cents...

actually, this get's back to the dialect thing that someone mentioned about
paiste. in italy, it would be pronounced *a-pee-chay*. but a-pi-see is good.
i've met the guy, and it fits, if you know what i mean...

True. Carmine told me his name is pronounced A-Piece and if you listen to
Black Sabbath - Live Evil, at the end of Vinnies drum solo Ronnie James
Die exclaims - "Vinnie A-PIH-SEE" on drums.
