Low Left for both bongo and conga

But if it works for you the other way around who cares.

High drum on YOUR LEFT (STAGE LEFT). Most conga/bongo players play heel/toe
technique on the high drum with their left hands, so you want the high drum on
your left.

It's not clear if another post was speaking from a stage or house view.

While most players have the high drum on their left, I've seen a few
players reverse
the order because they're left handed. I saw one of the bongo / conga
players in
Rhumba Club( a Baltimore,MD band ) do so at a recent concert. He also
reversed
the order of his conga drums.

Does the hi-hat/snare go on the left or right side of the bass drum?
Depends on what's comfortable for you...

That was me and I meant stage left. I guess it's like everything else in life, I would have
to do it backwards. It works for me and I have seen others play that way.

Kit drummers have, other than their snare, their drums arranged low to high -> left to right.

A friend of mine who is one hell of a conguero was sitting on a cajone, had his tumba between
his legs, segundo left, and quinto to the right. And he was smokin'.

If you are right handed, the smaller side goes on your LEFT.
by the way, there's an excellent bongo lesson within
the recent video "MANNY OQUENDO" timbales, etc.
