I'm pretty sure I remember it being a 14" 20-ply vented OCDP snare, could be a
13" but I doubt it.

Bill, you forgot about the 4 ply birch drum heads that really are the
key to his sound.

Sounds like a thick shelled wood snare in the 5x13-4x14 size range, with a
kevlar batter head cranked pretty tight, and tight snare tension.

I think I remember reading an article somewhere where he admitted to getting
some of his out-of-synch hits edited on computer, too. The studio is truly
a beautiful place :P

God I hate that shit. Now just to let you know, I'm not that great of a
drummer and could prolly benefit from some tricks like that...but I just think
it's pussy. Like I was watching this Metallica vid on the recording of the
"black album" and it showed Lars going over several cuts picking the best fills
and parts, and it's just like "why?" Guess it's just another reason for me not
to like Lars. heh....btw guys (not that many of you know me due to infrequent
posts) I got me some new drums...spent 11 hundy. Would you guys like to know
about em?

Track Editing is a very common and integral part of the pop recording
process. Don't knock it until you've tried it. I consider it just
another facet of arranging and composing. The Beatles invented it BTW.
