I couldn't find any You Tubes on that version of BS& T's. Smiling Faces.
Holy Shite. If you haven't heard it, do it!
I too love Danny Seraphine BUT Bobby was the man!

Yes indeed Bobby was the man.I love BS&T. Lucretia is one of my
favorites. Crank that tune up on a nice stereo. It just kills. And
speaking of horn bands how about Chase and Lighthouse? Love those guys
too.

You were close. "Economou" is the correct spelling. My buddy\Mentor
Mr. Randy Harrah played with BS&T back in the late 70s. They saw
Randy playing in a lounge at a Chicago Holiday Inn and asked him to do
some gigs with them. Check out the list of players that worked with
BS&T. It's a who's who of Bada**es.

Randy is not on it. I think because he was filling in for Colomby for
a very short time. Maybe a few gigs or so.

He was one heck of a drummer though. One of the greats of the 70s.

Rob,I used to marvel at Bobby Economou, in fact the whole band he was with, when I saw him in '74. It was The Ira Sullivan Group, with Ira on horns, Jaco on bass, Joe Diorio on guitar & Bobby on drums. Great, great, great!!!!!--

Stu,
I have an amazing album that was recorded in 75 in Miami with my old
drum teacher Steve Bagby on drums and Joe Diorio on guitar. I just
found a guy who can convert vinyl to CDs and am getting some copies. The
sound is amazing too as it was recorded in a closed down Unitarian Church
with no seats etc. They set up the sound equipment and just recorded. Steve
is very ill right now and we both have talked about getting a CD of that
album, so I can't wait to get him some copies. That band you saw was more
of a fusion group, correct? Bagby was Ira's drummer in all the acoustic
stuff for years and years. He is probably the best Jazz drummer anywhere
that no one has really heard of. :-) He never cared about being a star,
endorsements etc. He has always been the consummate artist.
Take care
Rob

Rob, That version of Ira's group was more of a fusion thing, but they could also take it "outside". Everyone was so good they could do anything they wanted!

You know I heard so much about that band growing up in Ft. Lauderdale,
but in 74, I was only 11, so it would have been hard for me to drive to
Miami to check them out! :-) That was one of those bands that everyone
in S. FL talked about forever.
>Now you're really bringing back old Miami days...Ira Suliivan! Wow!
First time I saw Jaco was with Ira at The Lions Share Lounge in North
Miami.

JACO, JACO,JACO--Rob, we all know you used to polish his knob in study hall,
the only Jaco you ever knew was Michael jackson, the time your Daddy got
really drunk out in SoCal, and dropped you off, and Michael pumped your ass
all night long.
