Hi all,

Yes, I know there's a lot more to a drum sound than the heads,
but can anyone tell me what brand/coating/thickness of heads
Matt Cameron (late of Soundgarden) uses?

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Depends. What project are you talking about?

everyting i remember reading about matt had him playing emperors on all
drums.
coated on snare (ambassador bottom), clear on toms and kick.
i'm sure it changes periodically. ie- studio, different projects, etc.

Hi Dan,

Sorry. I was interested primarily in the last two Soundgarden albums, but
if they're different, then let's say "Down On The Upside".

Thanks,

Sean

He uses coated Emperors live and in the ads, but odds are in the studio he
had a variety of different drums with different heads, no matter what he
endorses.
It's not that he doesn't have integrity, or that the ads are lies, but its
hard to endorse vintage snares and 10 different kinds of heads. The studio
calls for more variety than one kit and one kind of head can provide.
All that said, if I were going for that sound I would certainly try coated
Emperors.
