Any recommendations? I use a deep snare when I gig out. My stands work but
it's always just a bit too high. I don't need a high dollar model, just
something functional and sturdy. Thanks.

If you have a couple stands, you could cut one down.
You can cut the tube of the base down to where the legs with still fold
up.
Depending on the stand, that can take quite a bit off.

Most of the time, all you need are some basic tools.
Plumbing pipe cutter or hacksaw can cut the tube.
Usually there is nothing more than a set screw or pressure pin holding
the clamping collar to the base pipe.

Mike,
I've got mine as low as they will go now. Cutting won't help me. I'm looking
for something that is about 1 or 2 inches lower than what I have.

I lowered my snare drum stand when I first got my drum set, which was
three years ago, and it has been that way ever since. Like you said,
Mike, there was just a set screw which was fastening the vertical pipe
to the lower collar. I removed that set screw, and then I used a
small hammer to lightly tap the pipe through the collar. A rubber
stop on the pipe would be useful to help to keep me from maring
somebody's floor.

I'm working on surf music nowadays, like "Apache", and "Pipeline".
