A while ago someone posted about his new Zildjians, including a comparison of
the 21" Sweet Ride vs K Constantinople 21" Big Band Ride.
Now that you've had 'em for a while, care to post again?
Thanks,
kb

Sure, that was probably me. Having lived with both for a while I can say
that I am totally still head-over-heels about the K Constantinople Big Band
Ride. It could be maybe a tad bolder in its sound (read as: I wish it cut a
little more), but its tone is gorgeous and works for me for all but the
loudest stuff. The Sweet Ride is very similar in its applications. That is,
it is more of a moderate volume cymbal as well, with some wash but good
definition at the same time. The Sweet isn't as defined as the Big Band, and
obviously the Big Band is lower in pitch. If I had to pick one it would
definitely be the Big Band Ride, but they really are very similar in
character. It would all depend on whether you want a little darker or
brighter pitch. If you have more specific questions feel free.

Later,

George

I was trying both of these on my lunch hour today. The BB Ride is much
darker, I liked the bell sound alot. The Sweet ride was a bit,, well
sour,, sounded too much like a med ride. Still both are nice, if you
have the cash get the BB ride. Thats if your after the darker sound,
with a good amount of wash.

You know Tom, the interesting thing to me when I picked out my BB ride was
the variety in the dryness/washiness of the lot. I think I picked one of the
darkest and definitely the driest one I found. I think the Constantinoples
in general are a line of cymbals that it's very necessary to "ear-test"
(even more than regular Zildjians). I agree about going for the BB if you've
got the absurd amount of money it costs.

Take it Easy,

George
