Uhh, the Mac doesn't have a parallel port. I think this is a PC only
interface (but a good one!).

Nope. It is definitely a Mac compatible product. By the way, mine is
for sale as well due to the fact that Windoze cannot handle more than
11 MIDI ports. Which means that you can't even install a Soundblaster
Gold with this interface because you'd already be up to twelve. Not to
mention GigaSampler and Reality drivers, Hubi's loopback device etc.

8Port/SE midiinterface is NOT for a mac. It´s attached to the
parallellport of a PC. Great product. Got one myself. It is made by
Music Quest (which make ONLY PC-products), but Opcode bought the company
a couple of years ago because Opcode wanted to go into the
PC-midimarket.

Yeah but doesn't Win98 get rid of that problem...

Nah- getting a real platform gets rid of that problem. :)

No, RexBo. I was trying to be nice, but the 8Port/SE is a PC ONLY
interface. Period. (Ref:
http://www.opcode.com/products/winhardware/8portse.html) Maybe you're
thinking of Opcode's Studio 128X, which is very similar to an 8Port/SE
only it's cross-platform.

Also, as someone mentioned, Microsoft ("Mr. Gates, I see that you're
micro... and soft!) finally got around to fixing the 11 port limit in
Windows '98. But even with Win '95, if you know what you're doing you
CAN go in and disable some MIDI ports to get it back down to 11 if you
have, say, a SB card.

BTW, $350 is a pretty outrageous price for a used interface! Unless you
buy it from a dealer, it's used.

Yes, the 8Port/SE is a PC ONLY. I recently bought a brand new one for
$320 from my dealer.

I stand corrected. I usually know what I'm talking about - I guess I
was confused with so many other interfaces being out there. Check out
my page to see what I mean: the Digital Sound Page at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~rexbo - there's a lot of MIDI hardware stuff
there and a lot more besides...

So does anyone want to buy this interface from me? ;-) It's very
nice if you don't need too many other devices in Windoze but for me
it's useless. And I got ripped off obviously since I paid $375 half a
year ago...
