Got this from another list. It's a different orchestration to Paul Desmond's
classic tune Take 5, as made famous when he was with Dave Brubeck. I'll save
my comments until y'all give it a listen.

One impression or thought that came to mind was -> how can such a
sophisticated interpretation of a western jazz classic come from such a
backwards islamic country?

We can only hope that the musicians don't get lynched by the local
taliban militia on their way home. It was refreshing seeing pakistani
men holding violins instead of AK47's.

I guess I would have liked to hear the drummer make better use of the
large drum he was playing with his left hand.

I liked the arrangement and found it to be well played.

That studio has 19 videos on you tube. On the more smooth-jazz or
new-age side, listen to this:

If I didn't know any better, I would have guessed it to be a Pat Metheny
piece.

It is an enjoyable listen, thanks.
I think the main purpose might be to introduce jazz to easterns.
The eastern instruments are well played/arranged (citar, tabla).
The western not so much (violins, guitar).
It is interesting that the hi tabla is clearly tuned to the dominant (the low maybe to the tonic).
