Hi gang,

...long time since my last post. (I feel like I'm in confession)
I borrowed a Peavey Valverb to use with my rack setup consisting
of a Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amp, a Marshall JMP-1, and a Korg A-2.

After playing with the valverb for a while, I really like it. It
has a dynamic quality to it that no digital 'verb under $1000 has,
including the Lexicon, Art, Korg, Alesis, etc. It sounds very
natural for guitar. In fact, I was thinking of getting rid of the
JMP-1, thinking that it was to sterile. WELL, inserting the valverb
in the chain rather than the Korg brought back the guitar's natural
tone. I will probably miss the stereo effects but I think I'm going
to go analog for a while.

BTW, the Peavey has a bad rattle to it. (Damn Peavey stuff always
has some kind of defect). I will have to take the thing apart and
see what it is but it sounds like the front panel. (I usually set
the rack on top of one of the cabinets)

-Jaz

BTW, anyone want a used Korg A-2 in great condition ?

Isn't this not necessarily good?
I would think the speakers would induce some problems in the rack gear.

Yeah, espescially with tubes in the rack. Think about this, guys. Even tho it
looks so massive to have the full Marshall stack with the head on the 2 412s
that are vibrating like construction gear 'cause you have it on 11, did you
ever wonder why you go thru tubes so fast? You have these little glass bottles
that are pretty delicate ontop of the cabs so that they won't last long. And it
does wonders for bringing out any microphonic qualities that the tubes have.
You do your tube gear a load of good by keeping it off the cabs. The arena rock
aesthetics are not worth the maintinance difficulties. When I had a Fender
Bandmaster Reverb head and a 210 cab I made the point of not putting the head
on the cab. I also removed the reverb tank from the head and packed it in foam
cause it was VERY "sproing" prone. If you can issolate the Peavey reverb in the
rack, this would also help, probably. I don't know how sensitive the pan is,
but any vibration in the rack that it's coupled to could make it rattle. Just
don't put your rack on the cabs for starters. This will do a world off good. If
there are still problems after this, they can be dealt with but the returns
diminish.
