Jeff, I suggest you read the FD-II reviews over at HC's Database.
The early versions had a mid-hump ala a Tube Screamer, and the latest version
has, you guessed it..."flat mids"

Yo, Thanx for the advice. But what is HC??? Oh, I just thought of it,
Harmony Central.

My Fulldrive I I sounds nothing like the mid hump
my tube screamer has. I mean, it is pretty flat. I hope I don't have the
mid hump one. Do you know of any discernable features the early ones would
have?

Thanx, Jeff

I believe it would say FM on the label on the back.

PS, some people prefered the earlier version.

Here is a response to all of the messages I see here and yours also.
Hope this helps:

The Full-Drive 2 was available in the previous version with more
midrange boost. I believe (Michael Fuller can correct me on this)
Fulltone did get allot of customer requests for less of a mids boost
from the Full-Drive 2. I received allot of requests for this in my
store, so Michael Fuller must have received allot of requests for
this. Michael Fuller listens to his customers who buy the pedals and
he came out with the current Full-Drive 2 version which is the Flat
Mids version designated by an FM on the bottom of the pedal with the
serial number. Another thing to pay attention to is many of the more
recently made pedals now have the upgraded heavy duty true bypass
Fulltone 3PDT switches installed in them. If you open up a Full-Drive
2 and see the Fulltone logo with 3PDT printed on the side of the
switches casing then that pedal has the upgraded switches in it.

Some people do prefer the earlier version, but more people preferred
the newest version. I like both versions. I unfortunately can't help
you with a used Full-Drive 2. I would put an ad on Harmony Central's
wanted free classifieds to see if you can find one and that would be
your best bet.
