Audio Centron is an brand name of St Louis Music (SLM). They also manufacture
Crate Amplifiers. I was a dealer for both of these lines from 1989-1992.

Audio Centron, Sound Tech, Ross etc are all *bang for the buck* lines of
equipment. If you open up one of these cabinets, you'll see they're made of
OSB (oriented Strand Board) and just slapped together. The particuliar
model you're looking at was better than some but without a regular horn,
the high will sound real harsh at volume.

IMO anything with mids below 10" and piezo's for highs falls into the non-
profesional usage category.

My group had some new Audio-Centrons with 15" to use for mains at live
performances. Ended up returning them - they distorted high notes from
keyboard and guitars - even when hooked to a different amp at the music
store. I don't recommend AC either. -----JOHN-----

I agree piezo's are non-pro, but EAW use < 10" mids in both the LA325 and KF300
(IMO great small venue pro gear).

Try them out and go by your own ears. My group bought a pair of AC's
4 months ago and have been VERY pleased with their clarity and
projection. We run 4 vocals and 4 instruments thru them and they
don't distort. We got rid of the Peavy SP-2's for the AC's. No
regrets.

JBL rules... the TR line is something anyone should consider when looking
at an entry level speaker purchase. These are stamp-frame speakers, which
is new to JBL (they've always used strictly cast frame in the past) but
that's the savings--where else will you find stamp frame of the quality
you'll get w/ JBL? IMO, nowhere... Clarity and accurate sound reproduction
unsurpassed in the price range.
