So tell me folks, who is the finest guitarist to hale from
the steaming hot tropical jungles of Minnesota. Is it
LJStarin whose latest shred clip I just posted at the
special webpage that I set up for him at

http://geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Pavilion/4085/ljstarin.html

or is it Steve Sklaar?

I'm betting that some would say they'd prefer Leo Kottke over either of
us, certainly moi. There's a local dude named Dean Granros that's a fave
of mine, another monster Dean McGraw, and a host of others. I play to

Sklaar, I annihilate you when it comes to guitar. You should consider
it an honor to have your name mentioned in the same breath as mine.
LJstarin can play better than you and he's not half the accomplished

Yeah, in the summer it's steamy hot, and the mosquitos drink so much of your
blood, that you are light headed and weak all the time. Then after a month
or so of this, it's winter. Then it's so cold and bitter, that your brain
freezes, so you drink Absolute Vodka, in the hopes that it will work like
antifreeze. But, it's too cold and you get slush, and the slush has a very
low neural-electrical conductivity. So, we just live in the same long
underwear until spring again, when we can get our brains to thaw out, only
to have them deprived of blood by the mosquitos rendering our condition back
to it's winter state of permanent inebrietion. Come the two months of
spring summer and fall, we drive around in our pickups and 4x4s, eating
potato chips, circling the lakes in uptown Minneapolis, each and every
weekend. But Steve Sklaar is a much better "Minnesota" guitar player than
I. I can't really play 'Minnesota" guitar, being as I am an insubordinate
transplant from Chi-Town, Ill. I'd turn every band into a Chi-Town sounding
band, if I had the chance, and then where would guys like Steve be? But, the
best guitar player in Minnesota was Alfredo Hertz, but he's been on the road
so long, it's hard to say where he is calling home. The other really good
guitar player, moved to San Diego. Leaving just me and Steve, and let me
tell you, he's being modest and is flattering his other friends that play
guitar.

mmmm....Gophers!

I grew up in Eden Prairie and moved to Sydney in '87, which was the same
year the Twins won their first World Series. I was thinking of moving back
but they're paying me too much to stay away.

I suspect I'm the best 3-fingered, ex-Minnesotan guitarist living in Sydney
who was born on August 12th.

I know someone had pointed it out before, but Prince (or thingy, or whatever
he's calling himself these days) is a pretty decent guitarist and musician
when he wants to be. Granted, to me his signal to noise ratio is a little
low, but he can play fairly decently when he wants to.

Prince?

You can't be serious. The best guitarist from
Minnesota?

Leo Kottke, no question. Are any other Minnesota
guitarists in GP Magazine's Gallery of the Greats?
Kottke is -- guitarists are "elevated" to that status
after having won the GP Poll for several years running.
That gives someone else a chance to win in that
category.

LJ, you're just jealous cuz Jeni and Kimberly have nicer legs,
more spankable tushes and greater all around sex appeal than you
do. The problem with Minneapolis is that a crossdresser like you
doesn't get noticed because of all the sexy blond chicks there.

could outplay them with one finger. Don't try to call perfomance artists
musicians, it's destroys their validity. I suppose Kurt Corbain was the
best guitar player you have ever seen anywhere. Well, to each his own, as
long as you don't make it known. By the way, what's with the tone deaf
keyboard player, on the website playing the Wall? Lay off the pitch wheel,
if you can't tell pitch. They play MPLS once in a while. Better than
nothing, I suppose. Ouch, my ears are still resentful for listening to
that. Ouch!!!! You are an evil troll, Joey. Well, they are entertaining,
but they are not for hearing great playing, if that's what you are looking
for when you go to see a band. Ouch!!! You should really be warning people
about this, not trying to hurt people.

LJ doesn't need sex appeal, he can shred. His clips are posted
at: http://geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Pavilion/4085/ljstarin.html
The question is do the Dahm triplets have any clips posted.
Can any of them even shred. I mean, if there was just one of
them, there wouldn't be such a big deal. The thing is that there
are three of them. Imagine if there were three LJStarin's and
they all could shred, not to mention post at this newsgroup.
Heck, Guitar Player might do a feature on him just for the
novelty effect alone. Triplets who play guitar.

attractive than the most handsome Adonis. I would hope they look better

I can't speak for Sklaar or Lund, but LJStarin was a member
of several moderately successful hair bands in the late
1980's. After a brief stint with Brittany Fox, who booted
him out over the Danny Bonaduce incident, LJ joined Lizzy
Borden and was part of their Murderess of Metal tour for
several months until he got busted in Utah for going on
stage with those David Lee Roth style leather pants with
the bottom cut out. He, then, joined an LA band called
obsession and co-wrote and performed on their single,
"I Kneel for Money." . He was later axed when the band
found out the lyrics for that song were autobiographical.

But back then, you went by the name LJStarin, it was you who played in those
bands not I, we traded names at the Twisted Sister CD release party, which
was after the stint you did with Obsession, but I didn't know about it until
later, and you wouldn't trade back, in fact, you registered the name within
hours of our trade.
