I had a poster from that era of him playing a double cutaway LP Special or
Junior. They also used West amps (??). I never saw them live: I had a
ticket, but lost it playing on a concrete bridge support. It was going to
be my very first Rock Concert (sigh). Had to settle for Led Zep's 4th
album tour, which I guess was almost as good....

He may have used different guitars, but his main guitar was a Veleno
aluminum body guitar. Not many of them were made by John Veleno, and
even fewer can be found today.

The early years was a Messenger (with a built in fuzz!).
I have video of Grand Funk on Hugh Hefner's Playboy after Dark.
You can a good look at the guitar.
Another live show I have from 1974, shows the aluminum Veleno.
A way different sound, and it was chrome. The stage lights
reflecting off this guitar looked pretty cool. Carl
