I invite you to visit the Web site I realized to commemorate
Domenico Ceccarossi, after his death in the last 23rd of January,
1997.
He was probably the greatest horn player of this century:
there are some who say, "of all times."
Composer, performer, teacher (he, who was "autodidact");
with his sensibility, the great technic talent, and an incredible
virtuosity, he obtained the praises of directors and musicians. Among
this group: Karajan, Leonard Bernstein, Stravinski, Mascagni, Dizzy
Gillespie, Hindemith, Dimitri Mitropoulos - to cite a few.
And contemporary composers, such as Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone,
Alain Weber, Luciano Chailly, Giuseppe Savagnone, Gerardo
Rusconi, wrote specifically for him and his instrument.
He re-discovered the horn as a solo instrument.
In 1965 he received the "Disco d'oro" (gold disc) of
Italian Critics for the recording of Mozart, Haydn and
Cherubini concerts, presented by Angelicum record company.
His discs are published by American, Japanese and Italian
record companies.

The address is: http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/3073

The pages are, for the moment, almost all in Italian. But, you
can find some description in English, look at his photos
and download two musical excerpts of Mozart's
"Rondo" - concerto in Mib major for horn and orchestra,
in wav format.

Send me comments and suggestions: ce...@gd.abol.it

Thanks to all of you!!
Bye...
