FYI,

Charlie Stringer (CEO of Snarling Dogs, and a fellow RMMGer) passed away
this morning.

I think the guitar pedal world has lost one of its brightest new stars.
While you may not have agreed with his wacky ads in the guitar rags, you'll
have to agree that Charlie was trying to do something sonically different
and exciting with his wah pedals and other effects -- and his customer
support was fantastic.

RIP, Charlie Stringer, you'll be missed...

I'm sorry to hear that.
I recall reading a few messages from Charlie and enjoyed his colorful and
entertaining character.

Me too. I was just looking at a Stringer ad, for a wah, earlier today,
telling myself to get one just because they look like fun. Although his ads,
pushed the limit of bad taste, they did it in a good way, you know? RIP.

I recently got a SD Super Bawl and since fell in love with it. I thought the
guy had some very creative labeling/packaging ideas, very hip. The best part
about that $140 pedal is its worth every cent and I hope the company
continues to make current line and new product with the same quality and
enthusiasm. RIP.

Aww, man...

Why do we always lose these great guys?

Why can't we lose some of those souless corporate bastards who've ruined
Gibson's reputation and spread Guitar Centers across the country like a
plague?

<sigh>

Well, I better go get that Super Whine-O Wah I've been wanting before some
damn suit comes along and ruins it.

BTW, how old was Charlie? What happened to him?

Tery,

60 years worth of bitterness in a 17 year-old body.

YIKES! I'm 47, and I talked to him over the phone a year or so ago regarding
his nuclear nickel strings. What was the cause?

I thought he was young.

That comes as a shock to those that knew him I'm sure. Did you ever have the
chance to talk to him or meet him, or did you say already?

Peace,
Polfus

This from an old bottle of Stringer's "Tasmanian Buffmaster and Filth
Repellent":
"Directions:
1) Shake well before using.
2) Then, shake the bottle."

Anyone with the acumen to put this, corny as it is but with a straight face, on
a bottle of his product will be sorely missed in our little community.

Hi Nick,

Not sure if you'll get this message seeing how old it is, but I wanted to at least try to say thank you. I like to sink deep into the internet and randomly stumble upon nice words like these about my father. He died of cancer at the age of 48. (I think? I was 16.) He was truly a unique and fun individual with more clever wit than his ads sometime let on, a loving father, and also a superior classical guitarist which most people didn't know nor could believe. :)

Cheers

Wow - amazing - I can't believe I'm just finding out about this. I had no idea he passed away. I'm sorry to hear it. RIP. I was just getting online to buy some Snarling Dogs for my bass and came across this. Wow.

Charlie was a crazy, wild, awesome character. I sold his products in my little music store and loved all of them. He really did some wild things and there ought to be a wikipedia page on him but I don't know enough of his story to write it. It really bugs me that more information on him isn't available on the web.
