I like my PRS SAS pretty well, but I'd like it better with a rosewood
fingerboard and fatter frets. This guy looks like he knows PRS guitars
pretty well. Thoughts?
I have read a number of his rants on his webpage. I find some truth
in them, but the arrogance in which they are delivered makes me highly
suspicious.
I have been to his store, though he has moved since I went, there was
a very big finished warehouse setting with a ton of guitars. Some
vintage, some of his unique brands.
He was not there the day I was there, and the sales guy I worked with
treated me well.
I tried to work a deal on one of his LSR guitars, but they really
wouldn't budge, so I walked away.

Huh? $300 trade in? That just doesn't make sense to me. Seems
pretty high for a used neck.
I have had 2 Custom 22's a Hollowbody I and still own an Archtop.
I have no issues with the heel, which makes me suspicious of Ed. You
do this and you WILL destroy your resale value.
But hey, it may be worth it to you. Do you have a wide thin or a wide
fat neck?
The negatives I have read have to do with getting things back as
advertised and within a reasonable time frame. I would be clear on
these points with him before proceeding.
I am with Matt, if you pull the trigger, let us know how it goes.
Good luck
Why don't you keep the original neck in case you DO want to sell it oneday?

So I decided to part with the SAS. It's up for auction here:

I played a SUHR Strat for the first time last week, and I'd have to say that
that guitar solves all my issues :-)
