Hello,

I have a friend who is looking for a guitar restorer by the name of John
Gilbert. My friend has a 1972 Anthony Murray Guitar that needs restoring.

I searched several people directory but I couldn't find John Gilbert. I
would appreciate if anyone could give me some leads on how to contact John
Gilbert.

Thanks.

Hi David,

Please do me a favour. I have a 1972 hand made guitar bought from San
Francisco that needs polishing and touching up. The maker Mr. Anthony
Murray had died some time ago. Only his best friend John Gilbert has the
skill and know how to restore and revive the guitar to regain its
original sound quality. I last saw Gilbert in Woodlands Hill in CA in
1987.

Please help me locate him and ask him whether he is willing to restore
Anthony Murray's guitar. If so. I will air freight the guitar to him.

There is only one Anthony Murray the ex-guitar maker in the US and only
one John Gilbert living in the high mountains in California Woodlands
Hill. There are both guitar-making geniuses.

Many thanks.

Hie Kie

David,

I have his address and phone at home and will email it to you
directly. As a note to others - Gilbert makes, in addition to his guitars
GREAT tuners for classical guitars. I swapped the tuners off of my
Martin Humphreys classical for Gilberts and they are wonderful. Now if
I could only get him to make me some for my archtops...

To Any and All,

Please put me in the loop. I had the good fortune to spend a day with Tony in 1974.
As an upstart luthier, I was completely taken by his methods and skills, as well as his generous
spirit. A great honor.
