The chords for the song are E, F#, and B, just in different orders. Hope
that helps.

Hi there!
Here we go with Lightning Crashes from Live:
Lightning Crashes
-----------------
F C G
Lightning crashes a new mother cries
Her placenta falls to the floor
The angel opens her eyes
The confusion sets in
Before the doctor can even close the door
Lightning crashes an old mother dies
Her intentions fall to the floor
The angel closes her eyes
The confusion that was hers
Belongs now to the baby down the hall
Oh now feel it coming back again
Like the rolling thunder chasing the wind
Forces pulling from the center of the earth again
I can feel it
Lightning crashes a new mother cries
This moment she's been waiting for
The angel opens her eyes
Pale blue colored iris
Presents the circle
And puts the glory out to hide
Bridge: ]: | Am G | F G :[

They are E, B, F# .... but someone told me he plays them as F, C, and G....but
I think he's just tuned down a half step...
Nope, the chords are still E, B, F# ... they're just played in a different
rhythmn. You play each chord about half as long as in the verse and intro.
Hey, does anyone know the guitar part of the bridge? I think he strums a G#
then he plays a little lead bit, also the bass part would be cool too if ya got
it!
Paul
That's right, use E-flat tuning and play with barre chords so you can
sycopate and stuff. Also, I think the bridge involves something like an
open A minor chord and then some sort of barre (take a look at the
"Live" Unplugged show if you have it taped and run through it in slo-mo).
Does anyone know the second chord of the bridge?

You know, with that many exclamation points, you think you'd double
check your work. It's F C G, not F C D.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh-huh. Sure. Can we start a petition to have this damn song put on
the FAQ? I'm really sick of seeing posts for it.

I have attempted to tab this from the MTV Unplugged performance. I
could
use some help with the words if anybody knows them better. The
alternating
chords are depicted, but I’ve only written the starting chord in the
verses.
They vary how the chords alternate throughout the song, do it the way
it
sounds good to you.

Why does everybody find this song's guitar arrangement so difficult and/or
fascinating. Anybody that can bar an f-major can play this song. It is very true
that Live tunes down. I have seen them play the song and watched the hand
position. I live near Baltimore, about an hour from their home town of York, PA. I
have followed them from their club days, when I knew them as a local band. The
arrangements for the Mental Jewelry album are much sweeter and complex, in
regards to tonality and chord structure. I recommend "The Beauty of Gray".
anyway, the chord progression for Lightning Crashes (take it from an eye-witness)
is as follows:
f-major (barred)
c over g
g-major
g-major (lift ring finger)
GUYS, YOU HAVE TO GET PAST THIS SONG !!! IT'S THEIR LEAST
PRAISE-WORTHY EFFORT OF ANY SONG THEY HAVE RELEASED !!!
The most fascinating thing about this song is that the drummer has played this
tune with brushes, not sticks!!! Think about it!
Peace to all -- and remember Jerry!
D.J. Live Mick
Thanks in advance.
Gary
Yes, C/G is C over G, just play a C like you normally would, but istead
of muting the low E string, play a G on it.
332010 or 335553 low to high
Hope this helps.

Actually, there's no need to tune down on any of 'Live's songs. Tuning
down a half step isn't going to make that much of a difference tonally
anyhow. So, without bothering to re-tune every time you want to play
"Lightning Crashes", the chords are E, B, F#.

So? It's just as easy to play these chords in either tuning. Sounds good
too.
Incidently, how do YOU play the bridge. I'm just curious why it's
supposed to be hard.
(I've never had a problem in standard tuning)

>Yeah. Then have fun playing an G# minor to F# major in the bridge.
>Much easier in the open Am position.

Someone asked me how I play the bridge, that it would affect tuning
down or not (This is the above Dave, different account). Without
further ado:
The bridge to this song has an electric guitar playing barre chords
(Am G blah blah blah). There's a single note electric guitar line
that adds a lot to this section. It goes:
(0)-------------3h5p3-------|-------------------------------
-1--------------------3---0-|-<==== Repeat 3x---------------
-2--2/4-5---------------4-0-|-------------------------------
-2--------------------------|-------------------------------
-0--------------------------|-------------------------------
----------------------------|-------------------------------
Turnaround part:
----1-----------3-|-----------------------------------------
------1-----------|-----------------------------------------
(2)-----2--(4)----|-----------------------------------------
(3)--------(5)----|-----------------------------------------
(3)--------(5)----|-----------------------------------------
(1)--------(3)----|-----------------------------------------
Trying to play this is the right key without tuning down is a bit
trickier, especially with the open B and G strings helping make a
smooth transition. I tabbed it, too. But I'm too lazy to write it
down. Deal with it.
Conclusion: Tuning down and playing their formations HELPS.
Especially if you want to get that low Eb in the bridge to All Over
You.
Period.
